Silvano Macaluso
Silvano Macaluso was born on May 20th 1977 to a Belgian mother and a Sicilian father and was immersed in music from a very young age. He learned classical piano with a tutor for twelve years and graduated as a sound engineer from IAD in 2001.
Writer, composer, performer, but also sound engineer, arranger and multi-instrument playing musician (piano, guitar, drums, percussion, bass and accordion), Silva is a complete artist who leaves no one indifferent, public and professionals alike.
He started performing on stage in 1994 with a few different groups: Lloyd Esteban, Canvas, Cocktail. Two years later he won everything going at the "Pour la Gloire" awards at RTBF with his piano/voice version of "Puisque tu pars" (J-J Goldman) after which he released a single in France entitled "Emmène-moi" (V2 Music France). In 2000 he won the Prix du jury at the "La Rose d'Or" awards in Antibes, presided over by Eddy Barclay.
In 2002, he released the singles "Encore" and "C'est la vie" followed by "Je sais que tu m'aimes" which earned him an opening slot for Florent Pagny.
In 2004 he was awarded the Prix du public at the "Octaves de la musique" as the revelation of the year on BEL RTL for his first album "Laisse aller" (TSP/SONY).
In 2005 he played at a number of festivals: Francofolies de Spa, Dour Kids Festival, NRJ Music tour, scènes RTL, Radio Contact, RTBF.
A song he wrote entitled "Boum boum boum" sung by Shana Tesh became the hit of the summer of 2006 in France.
He has worked as arranger, sound engineer and musician on various projects: Pop Star, Jennifer Mc Cray, Shana Tesh, Wendy Nazaré, Noémie Largo and Jean-François Maljean. Pascal Escoyez, Annie Cordy, Riccardo Fogli, Louisy Joseph.
He created an electro-acoustic show in 2008: in tandem with the saxophonist Rhonny Ventat, Silva revisited the fantastic tracks from his first album as well as some new songs. Blending intimacy, rhythm and derision, the show led to a live DVD recording and he segued straight into the recording of a new personal album entitled "Antidote" at Universal / TSP that was released in 2010 and followed by a number of concerts: Francofolies, Belzik Festival, Fêtes de Wallonie, opening slots for Stanislas, Florent Pagny, Michaël Jones and Christophe Willem.
He is a musical arranger, sound engineer and musician on the new Jean-François Maljean album, “Dong”.
He also does the arrangements and collaborates on the albums of Wendy Nazaré, Jean-François Maljean, Shang Wenjie, les Schtroumpfs, Blues Chocolat.
He plays many concerts as a musician with artists such as Wendy Nazaré, Jean-François Maljean, Jennifer Mc Cray.
A new album is planned for 2014.
